While this latest buzz word has been popping up in the mainstream wellness space, adaptogens have actually been around for centuries, often used in Chinese and Ayurvedic medicine. More and more health conscious individuals enjoy adding adaptogens into their daily potions, coffees or smoothies as a way of getting additional support and benefits.
What is an adaptogen?
Adaptogens are natural herbs and mushrooms used to enhance your adrenal system, which is responsible for managing your body’s response to stress. They support your body’s ability to cope with environmental and physiological stressors, whether it’s a hectic schedule, your daily commute or stress from work projects or family.
There are many herbs that have been identified as adaptogenic, with (you guessed it) turmeric being one of them! Our favorite orange-hued herb helps prevent aging, reduce inflammation, improve circulation and more.
Some of our other favorite adaptogens to work with are reishi, which is great for boosting the immune system or maca for when you need additional energy support.
Ready to add adaptogens into your daily routine? Try our Adaptogenic Golden Milk recipe below to help you relax and unwind.
