You made a batch of golden milk or a hot turmeric tonic, and now your vitamix, cups or counters match your drink! Looking for ways to rid you of your golden-hued mess? We’ve gathered some helpful tips below!
First Thing’s First
The longer you let the turmeric stain sit, the harder it will be to get out. Try and get to cleaning it up ASAP!
Soak your stained mug or glass in a 2-to-1 hot water-to-vinegar solution - Let the solution soak overnight, then rinse with soap and water. Bonus: This tip also works great for getting out yellow stains from your blender too! Turmeric is light sensitive, so try placing the stained item in the sun to help with fading out the discoloration.
In most cases, mixing equal parts water and baking soda should do the trick: Mix together to form a paste and apply it to the stained area. Let sit for 15 minutes before scrubbing off. You can also try using Barkeeper’s Friend in place of the above mixture.
Fabric & Skin
For skin, wash with soap & water mixed with either sugar or salt to help lift the stains. If you happen to get turmeric stained on your clothes or linens, dab dish soap on the area and massage in to help break down the stain. Wash and place outside under the sun to help work its magic!
