Here at Citrine Sundays, we know how important it is to take some time out to show yourself some love. We believe that everyone should treat every day like it’s a Sunday - to slow down, pause and do something that’s good for your body, mind & soul. In this first self-care spotlight, we're tapping into our co-founders to share their daily rituals.

My morning routine is my form of self care that I pretty much stick to this every morning.
To avoid waking up with a struggle, I use alarm apps such as Sleep Cycle which tracks your sleeping patterns and wakes you up at your lightest sleeping state and Yoga Wake Up that wakes you up with guided meditations, stretches, or yoga that you can do in bed.
Even though I work from home most days, it’s still important for me to get ready and dressed for the day. Parts of this routine involve a few minutes of a self facial massage with an oil serum I make, drinking warm cup of lemon water, and blasting some mantra songs (especially prosperity ones for both my husband and I).

Then I gather some crystals, palo santo or sage, and a candle onto a yoga mat for some breathwork and meditation, maybe some light yoga if I don’t go for a class that day.
Since this summer, I’ve made a conscientious decision to not browse through social media, the Internet, emails, or text messages until I’ve finished the above. I’m eventually going to try and leave my phone outside the bedroom overnight, but I’ll have to figure out the alarm clock situation first...or just make sure I go to bed early and let my myself wake up to my natural body’s clock!

I usually start my mornings up and early before the sun comes up with a glass of warm water with lemon right when I wake up. My acupuncturist preaches about using warm foods and drinks to help aid in digestion and blood circulation.
Samaya Meditation Cushion
My meditation practice is still a work in progress, but I try to make time, even it's just for 5 minutes. I usually sit on my meditation cushion and listen to a guided meditation - my favorite apps are Shine and Headspace. It's a great way to get grounded and focused for the day ahead.

Next, I'll throw on my gym clothes and do a 45 minute HIIT workout at F45. Prepping the night before is key for me, so I have no excuses to skip the gym. I usually lay out my clothes, pack my gym bag and have my pre-workout and water bottle in the fridge the night before. I also try and not workout on an empty stomach, so I'll usually eat a date or a bite of oatmeal before I head out the door.
Post gym, I hop in the shower and get ready for my day. I usually alternate between a hot golden milk or a glass of celery juice with lemon. Golden milk is a great a caffeine-free substitute that helps with digestion, reducing inflammation and skin complexion. I usually make a dairy-free recipe that consists of Citrine Sundays turmeric wellness blend, cinnamon, collagen powder, hot water, stevia & coconut butter. Celery juice is a great liver detoxifier and helps calm inflammation.

I'm obsessed with tracking my steps (my daily goal is 10K), and I love getting in some extra steps when I walk my dogs around the neighborhood before I head into the office. I often view this time as another form of meditation - being able to bond with my dogs and be outside in nature to clear my mind and set my intentions for the day.
